Say “Hello” to our New Neighbor

At first meeting, it’s not difficult to see that a welcome change
is occurring along Wells Street. Jim Crosby, President of Meridian Development
is no stranger to the West End or HCNI. After several years of absence from our
neighborhood, Jim brings a new professional management team under the capable
leadership of Edward Elliott, an experienced property manager in urban
neighborhoods. Ed is Director of Operations for Meridian Development which
recently purchased 12 residential properties on Wells Street from Dave Karademis.
The apartment buildings, between 28th and 33rd Street
along Wells, provide homes for approximately 800 residents. These properties
account for a very large percentage of the population density within our
boundaries. On any given day, it is not unusual to see Ed outside taking time
to talk to residents.
We are excited about the enthusiasm and commitment to our
neighborhood which is evident by the many recent changes made in the management
and operation of these properties. In the short time that Ed and his capable
team have been in our midst, new lighting on many of the properties are proving
to be an asset both to home owners as well as tenants in the area. Ed tells us
that we will also soon notice some physical improvements in building grounds and
entrances, and they have tightened up their tenant screening process. He has
quickly displayed a strong commitment to our area by becoming a contributing
member of the West End Landlord Compact and personally involving himself with
the newly-formed block clubs within the district. His contributions have
already shown us that this change in ownership and management is going to be a
positive step toward bringing Wells Street back under control. When you see
problems in or around their properties, I know that he will appreciate a call
