Crossroads: Art at 27th and Wells will feature window installations by Wisconsin artists Hans Gindlesberger, Rafael Salas, Michael Velliquette and Rina Yoon. The project is jointly sponsored by Avenues West Association and the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University. The opening of the project will coincide with the annual Historic Concordia Neighbors Tour of Homes on Saturday June 18th; the closing date coincides with Gallery Night/Day on July 29th and 30th. In conjunction with Gallery Night and Day, an exhibition featuring work by the Crossroads artists will be presented across the street from the installations in the former Tower Theater building, located at 753 N. 27th St. The exhibition will be on view from 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 29th and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 30.

The corner of 27th and Wells is nestled between The Concordia Historic District (a National Register Victorian Neighborhood of restored homes with a strong neighborhood association) and Avenues West (a vibrant area of the city that is home to many residents, businesses and schools). Redevelopment of this district has been underway for the past several years. Crossroads aims to strengthen community pride and increase the visibility and viability of the neighborhood. The themes of the window installations will be reflective of the urban location, focusing on neighborhood, reinvention and revitalization.
